Katie Helliwell
I was born in Hexham, went to school in Prudhoe and now I live in Burnopfield in County Durham. I graduated from Staffordshire University with a degree in Broadcast Journalism.
I enjoy working on Smooth and keeping Tom and Roger in check. The cold early mornings can be hard - but Tom's always there to greet me with a nice cup of tea (not)
If I'm not here I like to go to the gym or make the most of a quiet Metro Centre.

Favourite Pastime?
A glass of wine - a night in with my boyfriend or a meal and a good catch up with the girls. I like just having time off to chill out and see people I love the most.
Favourite Meal?
Duck and pancakes followed by thai green curry and then maybe a nice sticky toffee pud. Yummy.
Favourite Holiday destination?
New York. I've been twice and still didn’t get to see an do everything.
Favourite Childhood Memory?
Living on a farm and making mud pies and tying our sledges to quad bikes and being pulled around. I'm a country girl at heart!

Sound Of Music. Actually can I have Dirty Dancing and Grease too. I’ve seen it a million times!
Favourite Band/Artist?
Take That. I was a big fan the first time around and after seeing them in November I am in love with them all over again.

One by U2. I never get sick of it
Favourite Album?
I got it for Christmas - it’s called Never Forget – the best of the 90’s
Favourite Decade?
The 90’s probably. It’s when I first started buying cd’s. I mean tapes.
Proudest moment/Best scoop!
I'm a big Newcastle fan so when I got to meet Kevin Keegan for the first time. I was so nervous but he was lovely and I just about got my questions out.
Celeb/Person I'd most like to interview?
I'd like to interview Daniel Craig...we could go for a couple of drinks after if he liked.
If I wasn't doing this?
I always liked the idea of being a lawyer.. I like a good argument.
