The Village People Story
The Village People have been a huge part of modern culture over the last 30 years; a feat the almost certainly wouldn't have been predicted in the late 70s.
The band that began as a concept disco group has always been seen as gay icons. However, while The Village People's primary appeal was clearly to a gay male audience, urban legend suggests not all of the members are/were gay.
Referenced constantly in popular culture, it's unlikely that you’ll be at a club, party or wedding without hearing "YMCA" and even less likely that you wont find everyone doing the now-obligatory dance routine. This documentary will look at the unlikely durability of the band and we will hear from them on how they have managed to forge a 30-year career in the industry.
